Creating the Inn
Labor of Love
Embarking on the project of Adaptive Reuse has been a labor of love, blending months of tireless effort and unwavering dedication to craft this extraordinary Inn. Each detail has been meticulously considered to enhance the guest experience, including the addition of private bathrooms to all four bedrooms and a convenient half bath on the main level. We've also incorporated a dedicated housekeeping room to ensure impeccable service.
Infusing character into every corner, the kitchen has been thoughtfully redesigned to evoke the essence of its era, seamlessly blending functionality with nostalgia.
Uncovering layers of history during demolition revealed a treasure trove of unique wallpaper, each layer a testament to the passage of time and the stories it holds. (Shown on the top right)
Restoring History
Type: I-House also known as farmhouse
Built- 1897 by Dr. B.W McBee
The name “I-House” was coined in the 1930s by Fred Kiffen, a cultural geographer at LSU who specialized in folk architecture. He chose the name
“I-House” because the style was commonly built in the rural farm areas of Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa, all States beginning with the letter “I”
